About Cabell County Residents Directory

Cabell County has no single book that identifies every resident. Useful evidence is divided among assessor maps, Cabell County Clerk indexes, election records, courts, and historical collections. Cabell County Residents Directory organizes those official and archival routes so readers can begin with a name, street, or dated address and reach the appropriate custodian.

Why This Reference Exists

Printed directories no longer provide a current Cabell County household list, yet the source records remain. Parcel facts come from the Cabell County Assessor, while deeds, marriages, probate indexes, and other county instruments are kept by County Clerk Scott Caserta. The West Virginia Secretary of State manages voter access rules. Historical Huntington volumes are held by the Cabell County Public Library and West Virginia State Archives. We bring those search routes, office contacts, known coverage dates, and access limits together without presenting them as one master resident roll.

What the Reference Includes

  • Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
  • The rolls and offices: assessor, recorder, elections office, court clerk, vital records, the library's local history collection
  • Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
  • Access rules: what West Virginia law opens, what stays closed, and how to ask a custodian for a record that is not online

Limits on Our Role

This is a privately operated reference, not part of Cabell County, the State of West Virginia, a court, a library, or any records office. Our limits are firm:

  • We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Cabell County
  • We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
  • We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
  • We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
  • We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment

Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
